Christmastime is the perfect time of year to plan a getaway. Most people get extra time off in the month of December in order to enjoy their Christmas holiday, so there is no excuse of being too busy to take the time for a vacation. When planning a Christmas getaway, it is important to take several factors into consideration: amount you can spend, location, and what activities or sites you can see during the wintertime.
Before you decide on a place to go for your Christmas holiday, you will need to plan out how much you can afford to spend. Since Christmas is the time of year where we spend money on gifts and charitable donations, money is more likely to be in short supply. That does not mean a getaway is not feasible at Christmastime. It just means you will have to be more creative in your trip planning. If you have a family, perhaps you can plan to take a Christmas vacation together instead of buying gifts. Memories are much more valuable than material goods. Of course, with younger children this idea probably will not be doable. However, if you and your partner agree to pay for a getaway instead of getting each other gifts, it can make all the difference to the trip fund.
The next thing to look at when planning your trip is where you want to go. Since it is a Christmas holiday, many places may be shut down or, conversely, may be overcrowded. One idea for your Christmas getaway is to return to a place you loved from a previous vacation. Christmastime is when we tend to reminisce and enjoy telling and listening to the same stories we have heard for years. Since it is Christmas, just make sure that everyone who will be going on the getaway is okay with the choice of destination.
Most places during Christmastime are cold and may even be covered under a layer of snow. You need to take that into account when planning your trip. Skiing is a good activity to do during this time of year, even if there is no real snow. Ski lodges have artificial snow for skiers to enjoy if they are not lucky enough to have real snow. If you don’t want the possibility of a snowy getaway, then plan your Christmas holiday for a warmer destination. Either way you go, Christmas is the perfect time to plan a getaway

Work and other responsibilities can be incredibly stressful. Sometimes it is nice just to get away, even if it is only for the weekend. No matter what type of weekend trip you are looking for, England has something to offer everyone. Some of the best places to take weekend breaks in England are Arundel, York, and Bath.
Arundel is 49 miles away from London, which is just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city without being too much out of the way for weekend breaks in England. Arundel is probably best known for its two castles: the Arundel Castle that was built in the 11th century and Amberley Castle that was built in the 12th century. If castles aren’t your thing, there is bird watching at the Arundel Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre or you can go on a ghost tour with the Arundel Ghost Experience. Of course, another attraction in Arundel is the Arundel Cathedral. It was built in the late 19th century and is very reminiscent of the French Gothic architectural style. Whatever your idea of fun is, Arundel has something for everyone in a picturesque setting.
York is another good location for weekend breaks in England. One of the best attractions about York is the walls surrounding the town centre that date back all the way to Medieval times. Also located in the centre of the town is the cathedral, York Minster. The cathedral boasts elaborate stained glass windows set in its gothic architecture and is a must see. Another site you should visit is York Castle. While not particularly breathtaking, York Castle should not be missed because of its 900-year history. York has plenty of other interesting sites to boast from beautiful gardens to dungeons and haunted houses, which makes it the perfect destination for just about anyone.
Another perfect location to take weekend breaks in England is Bath. The most popular attraction in the city is the Roman Baths and the accompanying museum. The baths themselves are a wonder to behold, but the museum is a site worth seeing as it boasts an amazing collection of artefacts from the time period.? Another site that you must see when visiting around Bath is the Montacute House. This country house was built in the late 1500′s and is a beautiful example of architecture from the time period. No matter what you are interested in, Bath and other areas around England make the perfect weekend getaways.
